Lumpy mailings are marketing materials that are a different shape than a flat letter--such as a small premiums with your logo on it--and are sent in the mail. A bulky envelope will make the recipient curious enough to, at the very least, open the mailing to find out what's inside. Just satisfying the curiosity could give you a leg-up on the competition.
